Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy
Last reviewed: August 2026
Simply Quote Comparison Ltd, trading as Utility Saving Expert, is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion within our organisation and the services we provide. We recognise and value the diversity of our employees, customers, stakeholders and the community we serve, and we want everyone who works with us or uses our services to be treated with dignity and respect.
1. Policy statement
We are committed to creating a working and service environment that is free from discrimination and where everyone is treated fairly. This policy sets out how we promote equality, diversity and inclusion, and the standards we expect of everyone connected with our business. It works alongside our Code of Ethics and Accessibility Policy.
2. What we mean by equality, diversity and inclusion
Equality means making sure everyone has fair opportunities and is not disadvantaged because of who they are. Diversity means recognising, respecting and valuing the differences between people. Inclusion means creating an environment where everyone feels welcome, respected and able to give their best.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all aspects of our relationships with staff and potential staff, customers, stakeholders, suppliers, contractors and the wider community. In an employment context, it covers every stage of the working relationship, from recruitment, selection, training, development and appraisal, through to conditions of service and the reasons for ending employment.
4. Our aims
This policy aims to:
- eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010;
- advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not;
- encourage an environment that respects and values individual differences, both visible and non-visible, and helps everyone to give their best; and
- ensure all employees, job applicants, customers and stakeholders are treated fairly and are not discriminated against.
5. Protected characteristics
Under the Equality Act 2010, it is unlawful to discriminate against a person because of a protected characteristic. We do not tolerate discrimination based on any of the nine protected characteristics: age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex; and sexual orientation.
6. Our commitments to employees and potential employees
We aim to create a supportive and inclusive working environment where everyone can realise their potential, regardless of their background or characteristics. We are committed to:
- ensuring our employment practices are fair, flexible and promote equality;
- offering inclusive and accessible formats for recruitment, selection and employment practices;
- promoting equal opportunities for learning and development; and
- providing clear routes for raising concerns or complaints without fear of victimisation.
7. Our commitments to customers and stakeholders
We are committed to ensuring our services are accessible to all and meet the varied needs of our diverse customer base. We are dedicated to:
- engaging with our customers and stakeholders so their needs and expectations are understood and met;
- providing clear and accessible information about our services; and
- ensuring our communication practices are inclusive and accessible.
8. Discrimination, harassment and victimisation
We have zero tolerance of discrimination, bullying, harassment and victimisation in any form, whether by or against employees, customers, suppliers or other business partners. This includes direct and indirect discrimination, and applies both in the workplace and in any work-related setting. Anyone found to have acted in breach of this commitment will be dealt with under our procedures, and we will take any complaint seriously.
9. Reasonable adjustments
We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to remove or reduce barriers for disabled employees, job applicants and customers, so that they are not placed at a disadvantage. If you need an adjustment or support to work with us or to use our services, please let us know and we will do our best to help.
10. Training and awareness
We help our people understand their responsibilities under this policy and the Equality Act 2010, and we promote awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion as part of how we work. We keep this understanding up to date as our business and the law evolve.
11. Raising concerns
We encourage anyone who experiences or witnesses discrimination, harassment or victimisation to raise it so we can address it. Employees can speak to their line manager or our People & Culture team, and any concern will be handled confidentially and without fear of victimisation. Customers and others can contact us using the details in the review and governance section below.
12. Implementation and monitoring
We ensure this policy is effectively implemented by regularly reviewing our practices and procedures. We monitor the makeup of our workforce and job applicants, and use this information to understand and improve our approach, handling any personal data in line with data protection law and our Privacy Policy.
13. Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for implementing and monitoring this policy lies with the management of Simply Quote Comparison Ltd. All employees are expected to uphold this policy, treat others with respect, and act in line with its objectives.
14. Breaches of this policy
Breaches of this policy are taken seriously. For employees and contractors, a breach may be treated as a disciplinary matter, up to and including termination of employment or engagement. We will also take appropriate action where suppliers or other partners act in breach of the standards set out here.
15. Review and governance
